Pam, Eric, and I spent a gorgeous (but extremely hot & humid because #northeastsummer) evening together for their engagement session back in June. They showed me all their old & current haunts, like The Owl Farm, where they had their first date, and brought me to some amazing spots in Prospect Park that I'd never seen. The light that evening was KILLER too, which gave us some fab sunset shots at the end. They are so sweet and easy to work with - I definitely see a pattern in all my clients. Le sigh, I love love. Can't wait for their wedding next May!
I was so excited to photograph Jen & Jake's engagement party - as expected, a couple as amazing as Jen & Jake has the best. group. of family and friends. ever. They hosted the sweetest engagement party for the two of them at a gorgeous Brooklyn event space. The decor matched their November wedding colors, they ordered their favorite food (pizza, obvi), and Jake's mom made super cute (and delicious) cupcakes. Check it out for yourself!
Kristen & Joesan's wedding at Tappan Hill Mansion was a dream to photograph - the two of them are so easy to work with & are as sweet as they come. The weather, despite looking less than great all week, ended up perfect. I also really loved the personal, unique details + choices they made: Kristen's high-necked lace dress was actually originally a sweetheart neckline, but they added the high-neck and long sleeves to imitate her mom's wedding dress. She also chose white Converse for her and her girls, while Joesan was rocking the maroon tux. My favorite part of the day, however, were their vows - they both acknowledged how after meeting, they felt like they could finally be themselves with each other, nerdiness and quirks and all. I loved what the officiant told everyone at the ceremony - you can be loved by your partner, and you can be known by your partner, but to be both loved and known is the ultimate gift. I'm so glad Kristen & Joesan found that in each other.

Jen, Jake and I met in Williamsburg a couple of weeks ago on what was possibly the coldest April day ever - but we had so much fun, I think we barely noticed it. We first started on the Williamsburg waterfront, at the bench they used to spend a lot of their dates on! Jake even proposed to Jen right in front of that bench, so we obviously had to get a few photos in that area. They were so easy to work with - so silly and fun and kept me laughing the whole time. Jake is a bit of a wildcard - you have no idea what he's about to do next. Jen complements him perfectly - I think it was her idea to do the Titanic pose and then hopped on his back for a couple photos. They kept me on my toes! After we were adequately frozen, we went into the ice cream shop where they had their first date (well, sort of - they had their first date at the Manhattan location, but same difference), where they got their go-to cones, strawberry for Jen and pistachio for Jake. I'm so excited for their wedding in November, and after our awesome engagement session, they asked if I could photograph their engagement party in June! You'll be seeing much more of them on the blog in the future. :)
I met Lauren ages ago, back when we were both baby hipsters in NYC. I was always a lot younger than her and kiiiiind of a weird fangirl of her music, but she never made me feel that way. Lauren is a gem - gentle and sweet and genuine, the kind of Midwestern charm that you hear about, but with a large hint of NYC badassery. When she asked me to photograph her wedding to Kate, I was 1) stoked to finally meet Kate, and 2) stoked because I knew they would kill it with their wedding game. They certainly provided. (And Kate is as amazing as I expected. She also has a British accent. It's unfair.)
Here's their day in the Catskills, full of really cool personal touches and lots of Negroni Old Fashioneds.
xx congrats, you two. Thanks for letting me be apart of your day.
